1. Files stay on your device
MP4Compressor.app processes your videos entirely in your browser using client-side JavaScript. The MP4 files you select, the compression settings you choose, and the resulting compressed video are never uploaded to our servers. We have no way to see, copy, store, or share the content of your videos.
2. No account, no sign-up
The tool does not require an account, sign-up, email address, or any personal identifier to function. You can compress MP4 files anonymously without telling us who you are.
3. Information we collect automatically
When you load MP4Compressor.app, our hosting provider and any standard web analytics may automatically receive technical information such as your IP address, browser type, operating system, referrer URL, and pages visited. This information is used in aggregate to operate the site, measure traffic, and improve performance. We do not use this data to identify you personally, and we do not sell it to third parties.
4. Cookies
MP4Compressor.app does not use advertising or tracking cookies. The site may set strictly necessary cookies or local storage entries that remember your compression preferences (such as the last compression level you chose) so the tool behaves consistently during your visit. You can clear these at any time through your browser settings.
5. Third-party services
To deliver the site, we rely on a small set of third-party services: a CDN to serve static assets, a font provider to display the typography, and a hosting provider to run the site. Each of these services receives only the data needed to fulfill its role (for example, your IP address when fetching a font). None of them receives the content of your MP4 files.
6. Children’s privacy
MP4Compressor.app is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because the service processes files locally and does not require accounts, no such information is collected in the normal course of using the tool.
7. Data retention
Since your MP4 files are processed in your browser, we never retain them. Aggregated, non-identifying analytics may be retained by our hosting or analytics provider for as long as needed to operate and improve the service.
8. Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example, in the EEA, the UK, or California), you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or port personal data we hold about you. Because we do not collect personal data through the compression tool, there is generally nothing to access or delete. For any data handled by our analytics or hosting provider, you can contact us to submit a request.
9. Security
We take reasonable steps to keep the site available and secure, including HTTPS for all traffic and minimal reliance on third-party scripts. Because the compression itself runs locally, the security of your video files depends primarily on your own device and browser.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Continuing to use MP4Compressor.app after a change means you accept the updated policy.
